The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over motor vehicle
violations, local ordinance violations, disorderly persons offenses, Fish/Game
violations. The Judge has the authority to issue temporary restraining orders in
domestic violence cases, temporary committments on warrants to isure appearance in Court
and search warrants.
Other duties of the Court include the processing of indictable offenses and the scheduling
of preliminary bail hearings and court cases. In addition, the Court is responsible
for all reports to the Township, County and State on all Court activities. The Court
also collects all mandatory penalties imposed by State Statute, including all drug and
driving while intoxicated (DWI) mandated penalties. Violent Crime
Compensation, Safe Neighborhood assessment and Weights and Measure penalties. The
Court also handles smoking violations issued by Roxbury Health Department.
Roxbury Municipal Court also has a Community Dispute Resolution Committee (CDRC).
This committee handles complaints referred to them in an attempt to resolve matters
without the need to appear before the Judge for a formal trial.
The CDRC consists of the following mediators: Alex Lazorisak, Esq., Chairman, Trinka
Osborne, and Richard Frantz.
The Roxbury Municipal Court
meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM and the public is invited to attend.
